About Us

MedSTEMPowered was founded in 2020 to expand access to medicine and STEM education for students who lack traditional exposure to healthcare careers due to financial, geographic, or systemic barriers.

We have delivered 11 virtual summer and winter camps, with optional case study competitions, research symposia, interactive workshops, and virtual shadowing with professionals across healthcare and STEM fields.

Davina Premraj

Davina is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at MedSTEMPowered! She is also a neuroscience graduate student at the University of Toronto, completing research in clinical neuroscience. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Honours Neuroscience from McMaster University in 2024. Davina is passionate about giving back to her community, in addition to teaching and making science education more accessible across the globe!

Jonathan Mikanovsky

Jonathan Mikanovsky is a sophomore at Brandeis University studying Chemical Biology. At MedStemPowered, Jonathan is committed to offering pre-medical mentorship for students at all stages of their pre-medical journey.

    Ayaan Shah is a sophomore with a passion for nursing and public health. He is interested in improving community health and increasing access to care. He enjoys volunteering, learning about medicine, and gardening in his free time.

  • Mouna Benouada


    Mouna is a first-year Computer Science Student with a particular passion for bioinformatics and biomedical engineering. She is passionate about leveraging computer science and technology to expand access to education in STEM and healthcare.

  • Priya Kanwar


    Priya Kanwar is a fourth-year Life Sciences student at McMaster University with a strong interest in medicine, health policy, and community engagement. Outside of MedSTEMPowered, Priya enjoys travelling and exploring new cuisines, swimming, and watching Modern Family.

    Amy is a high school student from North Carolina who’s really interested in the medical field and helping out her community in many different positive ways.

    Camila is currently a 12th grade student from Mexico. She's passionate about Biomedical Engineering and STEM equity, deeply enjoying the combination of science and technology as a tool for advancement.

    Eshita is a Molecular and Cell Biology student at the University of Connecticut (class of '27) from Philadelphia. She is deeply passionate about health equity and the systemic factors that influence disease, particularly within underserved and immigrant populations.

    Tahlia is an Executive Intern at MedSTEMpowered. She is an undergraduate student pursuing a major in Economics, with a double minor in Theatre Arts and Biology, and is on the Pre-Health track. In her free time, she enjoys listening to a variety of music, creative writing, and reading.

  • Tehmeena Salahin


    Tehmeena (she/her) is a non-traditional pre-medical student. She pursued her B.A. in Cognitive Science, previously worked in developmental psychology research, and is passionate about health equity. In her free time, she likes to make collage art and spend time with friends.

  • Teri Green


    Teri is a dual-enrolled 12th grade student at both Northwest High School and Montgomery College. She is currently working to obtain her RN license as a nursing student. When she has free time, she enjoys reading web novels, watching dramas, and learning new dances!

  • Zuwai Renner


    Zuwai is an 11th Grade student with a profound interest in science and healthcare. Aspires to become a dentist and women’s health advocate in her future.
